Chasing Race News Magazine’s Team Zizzo

LINCOLNSHIRE, Ill. (May 22, 2007) - The top Knoll Gas Nitro Jam team in Top Fuel drag racing is back in action. When Team Zizzo and the Race News Magazine Top Fuel Dragster arrives at Tulsa Raceway Park this weekend, it will be to defend its current number one spot at the Skull Shine Sooner Nationals. The race will be contested May 25-27.

"I’m excited to get to Tulsa," says driver, T.J. Zizzo. "It is a new venue for IHRA, so I know the place will be packed with fans. It will be exciting because that area doesn’t get to see this type of championship drag racing."

While the Race News Magazine Team currently stands number one in points, Zizzo knows it is too early in the season to be confident about his current position.

"It's way too early in the season to think about it," says Zizzo. "We are going to go there and run our race. We know we have to qualify and that is what we will focus on first."

When Nitro Jam teams take to the track this weekend, all drivers will be on a fairly level playing field as Tulsa Raceway Park is a new venue. This means crew chiefs won't have track history in their log books to make performance adjustments.

"I don’t know if anyone has track time at Tulsa. All we really know is that there will be totally different track conditions on Friday night and Saturday night when everyone likes to run the big numbers. Sunday afternoon racing, when that track is hot and slick, that's when it really counts," says Zizzo.

How much better can the Race News Magazine Team be?

"A lot better," says a confident T.J. Zizzo. "We may be number one in points, but we know we have room for improvement in the performance department. We've caught a few lucky breaks, but we were still better at the end of last year."

Team Zizzo will also bring a few new faces as 96.1 KXY of Oklahoma City will be in the Race News Magazine pits on Saturday night. One lucky listener will be the honorary Race News Magazine Crew Member of the Race.

"It will be nice to be the last one to go down the track during first round of qualifying," says Tony Zizzo, team owner. "Going into the race number one is good and hopefully we can leave number one."

The Race News Magazine Team recently acquired a minor associate sponsorship from Peak Antifreeze.
