Look at the 8th pic on the left side.. LOOKS like a (4) lane black top to me....with a ramp in the left track...! That's what I call BRINGING DRAG RACING TO THE NEXT LEVEL!!! I can't wait to see this place in person!
Timmah!
Have you heard if the top racing surface will be concrete or asphalt.
NHRA is having the job done for them. Bruton and Doug Herbert are friends and I would bet a steak dinner that Doug is the first top fuel car down the track, well in advance of the race. Gilbertson is right down the road, I'm sure he'll get an early shot at the track too.NHRA might want to see if the track can handle fuel cars before showing up for the race. Of course, that would require advance planning -
WTF? - "Of particular interest to drivers such as Force, Neff, Coughlin and Antron Brown, also on hand Saturday, are two facts about the facility. It will have four lanes for competition, and the entire quarter-mile track will be concrete." I know, should have posted a link to this, but I'm too damn tired.
Does anyone (besides Bruton) really know how the track is going to be configured? If it's going to be all concrete, cables need to be strung and concrete poured very quickly. 13 weeks (I think) until the first race of the Countdown occurs at ZMax - NHRA might want to see if the track can handle fuel cars before showing up for the race. Of course, that would require advance planning -
Personally, I think if it is 4 lanes, that will turn out to be a huge f$%$$ up. I was really looking forward to making that trip. Now, I don't think I'll bother. MJ
mack... I think the PLAN was to have two seperate tracks... not a 4 lane strip. But, who knows... until they build it, and it's there, it's just speculation. I say go bro...! It's gonna be a top notch facility!
Maybe they will switch to the other 2 lanes in the event of an oildown, therby avoiding much downtime.
Tri-State in Earlville, Iowa is concrete from staging lanes to the end of the shutdown and it's an NHRA sanctioned track. I can't remember how many years it's been open but it's around ten.It was confirmed on NHRA.COM that it is an ALL CONCRETE (4) LANE Drag Strip..... However they did make a mistake on the statement that it will only the 2nd all concrete strip... If memory serves me correct.. the Motorplex in Dallas is all concrete.... and, as of this year... BANDIMERE SPEEDWAY is also ALL CONCRETE!... so that makes.. uh.. 1 + 2 = 3!

I'm also thinking that one set of lanes will be for PRO activities, and then the other track used for Sportsman competition. That would be the smart thing to do. And this is a Bruton Smith property, so I'd expect the smart thing first..
Tim - that would indeed be a smart strategy! Unfortunately, Mr. Smith will have no control over how the event is run - that will be up to the organization with a long history of smart decisions. I can see it now . . . "Official Starter becomes more confused than usual and activates wrong tree!" -
Of course, we can always dream that Bruton's purchase of NHRA is announced prior to the Carolina race.
Sorry about that Kinko's reference - I didn't get the memo -

OK, that makes sense then. I was wondering how the heck they could forget about a Div 5 track that has a LODRS race, but this is NHRA we're talking about, so you never know.I should mention that the quote was in reference to the NHRA POWERADE TOUR tracks... So, the motorplex, bandimere and now "THE BELLAGIO" of Drag Strips!
