Promotion Brings Vets to Motorplex

CHRIS KYLE FROG FOUNDATION PLAYS HOST TO FAMILIES

ENNIS, Texas – On Saturday, Oct. 19, the final day of qualifying for the 34th annual AAA Texas NHRA Fall Nationals, the Chris Kyle Frog Foundation will host veterans and first responders who were beneficiaries of tickets donated through a special Memorial weekend collaboration between the Texas Motorplex and Texas-based Capco Contractors, Inc.

Each fan who took advantage of the promotion received a discount on the purchase price. Furthermore, with every ticket purchased, the Motorplex and Capco donated a comparable ticket to the Chris Kyle Frog Foundation, a charity that honors the memory of the late “American Sniper” through programs that support the families of veterans and first responders.

Reigning Mello Yello Top Fuel Champion Steve Torrence, whose family owns Capco Contractors, an oil-and-gas pipeline construction and maintenance business, has been a national spokesperson for the foundation since 2015 and, as part of the promotion, will interact with guests during a meet-and-greet that will include an autograph session and a question-and-answer segment.

Torrence is the defending champion at the AAA Texas Fall Nationals after completing an historic sweep of the NHRA’s six-race Countdown to the Championship in 2018.

“Chris was all about God, family and country,” Torrence said. “He was passionate about those things and so am I. It’s an honor for me and my family to be able to do whatever we can to pay it forward.”

“We have had a great relationship with Steve Torrence because he is a tremendous Texan and a great supporter of our military and first responders,” said Andy Carter, Texas Motorplex General Manager. “He has been working with the Chris Kyle Frog Foundation for a number of years and we wanted to do something really special for this group.

“We received awesome support from our fans and we will be able to host nearly 400 people (because of it),” he said. “We felt it was the least we could do for these folks that sacrifice so much for us every day all over Texas and around the world.”

The guests of the Chris Kyle Frog Foundation will be hosted in the Car Wrap City trackside hospitality tent with lunch provided by McAlister’s Deli.

“We want to thank Steve as well as Billy and ‘Mama Kay’ (Torrence) from Capco for their longstanding support of the Chris Kyle Frog Foundation,” said Taya Kyle, wife of the late American hero and Executive Director of the foundation bearing his name.

“This is an amazing gift to give our service couples,” she continued. “We appreciate the Texas Motorplex and Car Wrap City for their generosity. Doing something new together increases bonding exponentially. We are grateful our service couples get to have this VIP race experience.”
