After being re-scheduled in the wake of Cyclone Larry earlier in the year, Cairns is gearing up for a huge motoring weekend with the CARSGuide Auto Spectacular finally to be held at the Cairns Showground from October 28-29.
Headlining the event is Drag Racing Champion Brett ‘The Boss’ Stevens, who is really looking forward to putting his busy Australian Drag Racing Championship season on hold to lay the rubber down performing burnout exhibitions right across the weekend in his Jack Daniel’s Racing Burnout Ute.
The tyre frying burnout show, for which the Brisbane based professional Drag Racer is as famous for as his Drag Racing, is sure to excite the crowds as he shows exactly what having 2000 horsepower on tap can do.
“Cyclone Larry was very unfortunate for the communities of North Queensland and it is great that they have been able to bounce back and hold the CARSGuide Cairns Auto Spectacular,” Stevens said.
“I love coming back up here as the locals always give me a warm welcome every time I make the trip.”
“I can’t wait to get out there on the burnout pad and annihilate a couple of sets of tyres for the fans, I’ll be doing my best to put on a big show for the crowd.”
“If you like lots of smoke, burning rubber, loud noise and having a good time, the show is for you.”
As well as the burnout show Stevens will also have his 3000 horsepower Jack Daniel’s Racing BF Ford Falcon Top Doorslammer and Nitro Harley’s on display for the crowds.
Stevens is one of Australia ’s leading Drag Racers and is the only person in the world to compete in three professional Group 1 Drag Racing brackets simultaneously (Top Doorslammer, Top Bike and Top Alcohol).
Some of his recent Drag Racing accomplishments include winning the 2004 Australian Top Doorslammer and the 2005 Australian Top Bike Championships, member of the Australian Motorcycle Hall of Fame, holder of the fastest Australian Harley record at 215 mph (347 kph), as well as various other records and titles.
The CARSGuide Auto Spectacular is expected to be one of the largest automotive shows ever in Cairns and will also feature motorcycle stunt riders, dyno competition, driver skills competitions, for than 40 categories of vehicle displays and much more.
