I read the article on DRO, very exciting stuff. But am I understanding this right, Bucky has a $2mil investment in the track, but he leases and not owns it, and also has to kick back 10K/month to the county? I'm kind of a numbers guy so I was just curious as to how it was all structured, but either way, sounds like a bright future for that track.

I think that's why he gets a 25 year lease. Nobody wants to make improvements on a year to year basis. But 25 years is like he owns it.

Congrats to Bucky, It's also going to be exciting to have an NHRA Div. 6 race here next year (2009 season) Rumor has it, the date might be June 13th, stay tuned for exact date. Also the improvements are going to be awesome.... All new 330 ft. concrete pad, paved return road for pit vehicles, paving the pits, widening of the staging lanes, new timing system, scoreboards, and much more...

Todd, you of all people must be very happy to have an NHRA race in your own backyard.

I am very excited about this news. I've been worried for quite some time that SRP could be closed, becoming yet another track lost. Should SRP get a Division 6 race as mentioned above, I will certainly buy tickets and make the drive to Spokane.

Sure will be great to have another quality track in Washington. We'd happily make the trip there to race if it's a quality operation, and Bucky doesn't seem to do things 1/2 way :)

I certainly hope that the first investment is in moving the barriers next to the racing surface, removing the steel stanchions for the timing blocks and making the whole place safer. It should be their number one priority and frankly, nhra should insist on it before any sanctioning is done.
