Its been reported that Bucky Austin will be getting the keys to Spokane Raceway!!!
I imagine Buckys first order of business will be to fire the security staff...
'Cause nobody messes with the "HITTER"!!!:p
Go get 'em Buck!...Gonna be great!!!

Jim Rockstad? I know who it is and it's not Jim. Jim just emailed me tonight and didn't mention it. No, it's someone else with the first initial J. Either guy would be good as they are both friends of mine that love the sport.

And one other thing, Jim Rockstad is a great guy, a caring individual, and he did the best he could in Seattle under the circumstances. It's one of those things that we don't understand unless we are in his shoes. Give him some credit. I regret not understanding more than I did at the time.

...Jerry "The King"!!! :p

Seriously Rich, Its truly great news!...So Buckys gettin the lease and "J" is running it?
PS-Your site is Awesome!!!:)

As someone who was born and raised in Spokane, and lived there until I was thirty years old, this is indeed good news.

there's more than two track promoters with the initial J in the northwest. .. there's five and i know them all. i think we are putting the cart before the horse. the story i just saw said bucky is in the running. it never said that its a done deal so lets take a deep breath and wait and see what happends.

This would be great. Bucky is one "bad" dude. :D Now I just wish I could make it back out to the PNW to attend a race there.

Rich, you are probably right about Rockstad but I just printed what I was told at the reunion.:D:)

No problem Mike. I think Jim Rockstad would be a good choice. They all are actually.

well, its a done deal Bucky will lease it and Jay Livingston will run it. Between the two the Northwest's best track may be in Spokane. A lot of credit must go to the county for saving the facility and now getting it into the right hands.

Hey guys, I live in the northeast, but it's great news that this track will remain in operation, we can never have too many! Also, I'm a fan of Bucky's and am amazed at how much he loves the sport. BTW, does anyone have the link that showed up awhile back to the photos of Bucky's warehouse full of drag racing cars & parts? It was simply unreal...

The big question is what sanctioing body will it fall under? The track could easily get an ihra national event. but without the funny cars next season, i wonder what kind of shape the ihra is in.

This is really cool news. I wish BA the very best. And let me tell you something... I don't care where he is, or what he's doing at the time.... TRY THIS: if you wanna' see a smile on his face a mile wide? Just mention Connie & Steve Will. He'll light up like a christmas tree!!! :D You go, Bucky! From the crazy tatooed one

Well, that answers that question...it will be an NHRA facility. Great news all the way around. I love that track!
