I thoroughly enjoyed the broadcast this evening.

Great racing..tolerated Paul. Loved KJ's comments in the booth.

Maybe it was the 3 weeks delay..but being pumped about seeing some drag racing..my expectations were fulfilled.

114 degree track..made the crew chiefs earn their money.

The anti-Force fans should be pleased not being over-exposed..even during Eric's anniversary.

Thought the Herbert segment was appropriate..how can you not have a heart for Doug.

I know there will be some that can find something to criticize..but I really don't have any complaints at all..

even Paul..hey that rhymes.

Now why do we have all these 2-3 week delays at the start, eh?

It was a good telecast for the most part. Loved seeing them do an interview with Densham AFTER he lost the final...would`ve been nice to see them do an interview with him a little earlier than his semis win. Same ole ESPN2 though in some respects, Capps gets more airtime than anybody and he`s yet to win a round of eliminations.

Ron did?

One was set up because he has not won yet this year and was 13th going up against 4. the second was his view of what happen while running Cruzzer.

And that NAPA commercial? That joke is SOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO bad, it was great.

i agree, good show last nite. thank you ESPN2.

regarding the status of nhra; was watching some of bristol race yesterday
and announcers took about 30-45 seconds and talked about the
new charlotte dragstrip and the inaugural fall race.
i don't think one race can make or break a series, but that race alone
is going to give nhra fantastic exposure; not to mention nhra will now
have 3 bruton tracks with four races, not to mention constant improvements
at other facilities - things seem to be changing.....slowly, and that's o.k.

one comment regarding tv coverage, and this applies to all nat. events.
as pro cars are doing burnout, backing up, staging; the cameraman often
zooms in close to car and driver, especially in the case of TF with
narrow body, showing roll cage shot of helmet only, maybe can see driver's
name on car........i know i've argued that it's the drivers, not the cars,
and i think that's what the fans relate to, but my
thought would be when zooming in on driver, do not zoom so close,
capture the car's sponsor logo in that shot and give that sponsor their
much needed exposure.
example: yesterday, doug foley backing up, camera zooms so close we can't
see KIA logo on car. if i was KIA executive watching, i'd think , 'there's my
logo two feet out of view!, i paid good money for that and i'm missing out
by just a couple feet!'
especially the small guys who sign race by race deals.

5 races at 4 Bruton tracks but who's counting? (Vegas 1+2, Bristol, Sonoma, Charlotte) One thing Bruton and everyone at SMI are very good at is getting exposure. I am sure since the NASCAR circus was at a SMI track this week, somebody from SMI put a bug in Larry Mac or Mike Joy's ear to talk up all of SMI's facilities and the constant improvements as they truly are the best on the NASCAR tour and the best by a FAR sight on the NHRA tour.

yes, i thought the same thing - the nhra mention was definitely bruton induced.
bet it made the nascar brass cringe.
woops, i forgot sonoma.

.

Mike, you are absolutely right! They could stay back enough to see the sponsors.......and some of the last minute activities going around the car.

Mike, good call hopefully somebody there is reading!

It was pretty good broadcast.
Paul Page grated my nerves tho. He still doesn't know what's exciting and what isn't.
...Capps gets more airtime than anybody....

You're serious?

Well, we get that Force sh*7 rammed down our throats all the time.

Paul, see you in the bar tonight?

As a hardcore JFR fan, It was good to see Ron get air time. And a little less Papa John.

What I'd like to see, as if, is air time for Head, Scott, Teach, Bode, Big Jim and T-Bone, Del, and that's just in floppers. What we need is an hour pre-race show, then the three hour package. Then the hour post-race Package.
