Brinsfield victorious in Farmington Quick-8

(May 25, 2008) Mocksville, NC - The talented and classy Dale Brinsfield has found success in practically every Pro Mod he's ever sat down in, and on Saturday night at Farmington Dragway, Brinsfield drove to yet another victory - this time in a car that was only 17 passes old. Brinsfield showed power early in qualifying during the Quick-8 Racers Association event yesterday afternoon, driving Jerry Williams' Ford Mustang to its best numbers thus far. After 3 sessions of qualifying, Brinsfield clocked 4.10 @ 180mph, good enough for the number 2 spot behind Steve Vick.

Just as the sun was setting on a very warm day at The Farm, the field of 8 quickest qualifiers were rolling to the starting line for an under the lights eliminator on Farmington's all concrete racing surface. Brinsfield, charter member of the Plemmons brand Quick-8 show, dazzled the fans when he threw down a 4.03 @ 184mph, against a red-lighting Josh Chester in round one. Brinsfield's opening thunder was never matched again during the entire race.

In round two, Brinsfield faced reigning Quick-8 Champion Buzz Varner, who continued his winning ways from 2007 with a win last week at Roxboro. Varner leaned on the tree until it snapped, reacting a moment to soon and drawing the red light. Brinsfield kept his foot in it and recorded a 4.06 to advance to the finals.

Randy Weatherford got past Thomas Dunford and Steve Vick in rounds one and two, securing a spot along side Brinsfield in the finals. As the tree flashed green for the last time of the evening, Brinsfield moved his foot to an .018 reaction and never looked back. Weatherford's run began to go away past half track as he drifted out of the groove; hanging around as long as he could before clicking it early as he neared the finish line. Brinsfield clocked his second 4.06 in a row to take the win back to Oak Ridge, NC.

For the team of Jerry Williams and Dale Brinsfield, this was the team's first Plemmons Quick-8 victory since 2006, although they scored an open field Pro Mod victory at Orangeburg in March 2007. Both wins came behind the wheel of the familiar Ford Probe, still part of the Jerry Williams Racing stable of blue ovals. An instant hit with fans, the new Jerry Haas-fabricated 2008 Mustang is showing some freakish strength early in its career.

Quick to give credit to anyone but himself, the talented and gentleman racer Dale Brinsfield couldn't say enough about his car owner and the wise tuning calls he made through all 3 rounds of eliminations. As if it were an easy chore to accomplish, Brinsfield simply commented, "All I did was drive the thing."

Brinsfield first teamed with Jerry Williams and sons, Brian and Jonathan, after a devastating top end fire at Farmington ended the driving career of Williams in 2002. Brinsfield came on board when the Williams family returned to racing after sitting out a short time to regroup. "Dale is a fine driver and you can give him something to drive and he can drive it," says Jerry Williams. The team seems to be a perfect match 100% of the time, and credit gets bounced around freely. "More than anything I want to thank the Lord for allowing us to be here and to have the resources to be able to do this, and for keeping us all safe," added Brinsfield.
