BRETT STEVENS TO HEADLINE SUPERCHARGED WIMMERA WEEKEND FOR KIDS WITH CANCER

Drag Racing and motorsport icon Brett ‘The Boss’ Stevens will be putting on a special one off exhibition in Victoria as a guest of the Wimmera Off Street Drag Racing Club to help support the ‘Wimmera Supercharged Weekend’ from the 8th-9th March.

With all profits raised from the event going to WACK (Wimmera Against Cancer in Kids), Stevens didn’t hesitate when asked to headline the 2 days of action in the country towns of Warracknabeal and Horsham.

On Saturday (8th March) at the Warracknabeal Drag Strip, he will have his 3000 horsepower Jack Daniel’s Racing Top Doorslammer facing off in a best of 3 grudge match competition against fellow racer Steve Packman in the SP Racing machine, with a good chance of the track record book being thrown out the window as the 2 professional racers go door handle to door handle for supremacy.

Adding to the spectacle of the Top Doorslammer racing, Stevens will also be bringing his infamous 2,500 horsepower Jack Daniel’s Racing Burnout Ute out to play to shred a few sets of slicks for the fans.

Sunday (9th March) will then see the festivities move to Horsham for what is expected to be the towns largest ever Show & Shine competition, including both the Jack Daniel’s Racing and SP Racing teams.

“It has been a very long time since I have brought a Top Doorslammer to race in Victoria and I have never had the new Falcons here on track, so it will be something very special for the motorsport fans,” Stevens said.

“It really is a unique opportunity to see Group One Drag Racing at its very best and is a credit to the event organisers that they have been able to organise what is sure to be a great weekend for a worthy cause.”

“Childhood cancer is something that sits very close to my heart as I’ve seen what these poor children have to go through so I am glad I am able to help out.”

“After a really busy month of Championship Racing I am really looking forward letting loose and having some fun entertaining the crowd that normally doesn’t get to see this level of racing.”

“The sight, smell and sound of two methanol fuelled 3,000 horsepower sedans battling it out is an experience not to be missed, and we should definitely be able to make a new mark in the Warracknabeal Drag Strip record books as well if the conditions are right.”

All profits raised from the weekend will be donated directly to WACK (Wimmera Against Cancer in Kids), which is a registered local charity that supports and assists families who have to deal with the trauma of having a child with cancer.

Funds raised through WACK help families by providing direct aid by way of travel assistance, as well as via donations and support of Ronald McDonald House, Children’s Cancer Centre and the Melbourne Royal Children’s Hospital.

Brett Stevens is also an Official Patron of the Leukaemia Foundation Australia and an avid supporter of the Kids With Cancer Foundation Australia . In 2005 he successfully completed a personal challenge to raise $100,000 for the charity, as well as makes regular visits to Ronald McDonald House, Brisbane Royal Children’s Hospital and the Mater Children’s Hospital.

Stevens and the team will also be making a special guest appearance to meet the fans at the Bull & Mouth Hotel in Horsham on Friday 7th March from 7:00pm-8:00pm.
