Bray looking for another P.B. in Perth

Three months ago, Victor Bray recorded his personal best elapsed time of 6.010 at WSID just west of Sydney, NSW. The 6 times national champion is anxious to go better again this weekend, at the Golden State Titles to defend his No. 3 spot in ANDRA Championship points and attempt to improve on his ET mark. Team Bray has put down some quality passes in the Castrol Edge Top Doorslammers at the last two events. Victor set a new PB, plus went to the final in round 1 and Ben recorded a new PB for the Monaro at 6.030 earning No. 1 qualifying spot, for the 42nd Australian Nationals.

"It would be great to run a time lower than the 6.010 we ran at the East Coast Nationals, but that's not entirely our goal for the weekend," Bray said. "With a 50% bonus point on offer for this meeting, what we really want to do is improve our spot in the championship heading into the second half of the season. There are so many quality cars right behind us we really have to be on our game to hold on to our position".

This race marks three of four straight week-ends of racing for the Team Bray crew and the end of the first half of the Top Doorslammer championship. Bray senior has his spot in the top four of the championship and would love to see son Ben get a hand full of those precious bonus points to make his way up the score board.

"This is the first of the 2 most important points rounds of the championship, so now is the time for us to really get on our game. I think you'll see a really serious, competitive side of all of the racers this weekend. For us, it's get ready and go" Bray said.

Victor and Ben definitely know this track, having met each other in a final at the Motorplex in 2005. Just some times the old Fremantle Doctor has not been kind to them with the weather.

Qualifying begins Friday, November 30th with runs scheduled at 6, 8 and 10 p.m., and continues on with eliminations in the third of seven races in the ANDRA Championship Drag Racing Series scheduled to begin at 6pm. Saturday, December 1. (All times AWST.)
