NIAGARA FALLS, ONTARIO (May 17, 2007) - Joe Boniferro has long been known in Ontario and Western New York drag racing circles for piloting some of the quickest Mopar-powered doorslammers in the area. Now he is ready to put something back into the sport. The 2006 joint Pro Modified Racing Association Pro Modified Champion and his soon to be opened Boniferro Speed & Custom speed shop are proud to unveil the Boniferro Speed & Custom Six Thirty Club. The Club will be formed by the first nine racers (six plus three) to run in the 6:30-second range during PMRA competition and each qualified racer will receive a hand- crafted commemorative ring and certificate.
“I know there are guys out there running with us who can run in the 6:00s, but this is a regional series and not everyone can run the numbers seen at IHRA events,” Boniferro explained. “This club is a thank you to the racers who support the series and a bit of incentive for the rest of us to step up and run a bit quicker. The fans will have something more to get excited about as the elapsed times drop. It is also a way to introduce Boniferro Speed & Custom to the racers and the fans. I just hope I can manage to get one of those rings myself!”
The first event of the 2007 PMRA series will be held at Toronto Motorsports Park in Cayuga, Ontario over the May 19-20 Victoria Day Holiday long weekend with TMP perfectly capable of providing a track that will see the first members of the PMRA Six Thirty Club inducted.

Boniferro Speed & Custom is intended to resemble your old style speed shop with racers and the general public both being able to pick up the components needed for their rides. Racers will be able to fill nitrous bottles and pick up that go faster goodie, the public can purchase anything to make their car look better and have the added bonus of having it installed on site as they watch from the new Boniferro Speed & Custom showroom. Boniferro went on, “The formation of the new division was being driven by my sons Joe Jr. and Ryan, they both have been around racing since they were infants and felt the need to support the racers in our area. Boniferro Speed & Custom is the result of their ideas and our combined discussions. Boniferro’s own Pro Modified Avenger will continue to fly the Joe’s Transmission banner but Ryan Boniferro’s Barracuda will represent Boniferro Speed & Custom in competition. Now in its third year of operation, The Pro Modified Racing Association (PMRA), Pro Modified Racing Association, has enjoyed strong fan popularity and will present some of the best in Pro Modified racing for 2007.
The PMRA will travel to several drag strips in 2007, including two dates at Toronto Motorsports Park, Lancaster Raceway Park in New York State, Sanair in Quebec, and the Southwestern Ontario track of Grand Bend Motorplex.
In 2006, the tour was a great success, and during the past two seasons of the PMRA, each event finished with a different winner. Joe Boniferro and Kasey Janzen tied in points last year and were crowned co-champions over the other Ontario, Massachusetts, Michigan, New York, and Pennsylvania teams. Wix Filtration Products, Valvoline, a division of Ashland Inc., Uni-Select, and Moen Incorporated will sponsor the PMRA point series in 2007.

About the Pro Modified Racing Association (PMRA):
The Pro Modified Racing Association started late in 2004 and is entering its third year of operation. The PMRA is a self-governing organization, with technical and safety rules as outlined by the International Hot Rod Association (IHRA) and the National Hot Rod Association (NHRA). Cars in the PMRA capture the true spirit of hot rodding, and the class is one of drag racing’s most exciting and volatile classes, offering a diverse group of racecars with different types of 2,000-horsepower engines. Combining classic body styles and modern equipment, constructors are permitted, within established rules and parameters, to modify and enhance the cars in both appearance and performance. The cars are fuelled by gasoline or methanol, propelling them down the quarter-mile in low six-second times at over 200 miles per hour. The PMRA provides drag race fans the opportunity to see, hear, and experience the popular Pro Modifieds, known as "the world's fastest door slammers".
