That was soooooo cool! I seem to remember Don Prudhomme had a bet that F/C would be the first to run 260. But it was Amato's wing that gave him the first 260 & I seem to remember he ran 262 before the meet was over. But Bernstein running that 260.... wow. That car was a preview of the future.

You are correct. I was lucky to be at that race with my brother (he and I went to some cool races) and Amato ran his 260 in the semis. In the FC final Bernstein ran a speed equal to Amato's semi-final barrier breaker. When Bernstein ran, Joe was buckled into his car waiting for his final and he saw what Kenny did. Joe then ran a 262 in sort of a "Take That!" statement. It was good stuff!
