Checking entries at Vegas & Pomona I see Billy Torrence entered in Super Comp at both races. Another one to watch.

A couple of weeks ago on Brian Lohnes NHRA Insider podcast, he mentioned that Billy was putting up his TF car for sale. There was some internal turmoil within the team.

Brian mentioned Lagana is no longer with the team. What is going on there?

I’d have thought with the mediocre way the car has run this year (by his standards) it would’ve been Hogan in the hot seat.

It seems like stories are changing. I read a while back that the reason that they were struggling until now is because they were working to dial in a new engine block design thats eventually going to replace the current one that many are using right now. They said that that they wanted to be ahead of the game. Some $hit must have really hit the fan if Lagana is gone.

Sure hope lagana isnt gone. If so wont be long until he is snactched up. Should have left the winning tune up alone and kept on trucking

Let me clear some things up. This was all talked in the podcast around the St. Louis event. Bobby Lagana was in Dallas with Steve Torrence.

If that's the case with Dom, Maybe it might be too much for him to be at a national event for entire weekend this soon.

steve's team has had the same bunch of core guys together for how many years? can you imagine trying to keep a group together for a 2nd car
that doesn't do full tour? ....... when i was younger i would watch between round teardowns and think, 'man, would that be awesome to be one of those guys'.......
today, you couldn't pay me enough to do that back breaking work, not to mention hauling the circus show all over the country.
running capco, building dragster chassis, driving in super comp, and whatever he likes; would imagine billy is doing exactly what he wants.

Absolutely agree - Also at this point it most likely is more fun to run S/C anyway. You adjust your Throttle Stop or Delay between runs and you have the ability to make five or six rounds. Also it is always a Drivers race. A .020 light is usually “HoHum” and you have to drive both ends of the track. You still get a Trophy and the Winner looses less money for winning than the Nitro car. And - the real rush has to be winning not sensory overload in the long run. Billy already proved that he could win in a very short time in T/F and his experience in S/C appears to have given him a heads up with driving.

I say this with the prerequisite of not having any knowledge of the inner workings of Torrence racing.

I've always admired that team's ability to keep the same personnel. Especially when considering everyone is essentially a free agent.

I compare some of these teams to pro sports teams. You have so many people/personalities/situations to manage, it can be difficult. Even if the team is having a fair amount of success.

I listen to the 'F1 Beyond the Grid' podcast quite a bit. Hearing about some of the ebbs and flows of those teams and teams of the past is very interesting.
