Bertsch hits Grand Bend with high hopes and a fast Ford
GRAND BEND, Ont. - IHRA Pro Stock driver Bob Bertsch and his Rislone Engine Treatment backed team head into this weekend's Mopar Canadian Nationals presented by Castrol in Grand Bend, Ont., with high hopes following what they feel was a career performance two weeks ago in Edmonton, Alb. Bertsch ran strong in his Jon Kaase powered 2007 Mustang, but had his weekend end early after drawing No. 1 qualifier and defending World Champ Pete Berner in round one.
Bertsch, from Willis, Mich., hopes to build on the progress made in Edmonton this weekend.
"The car ran wonderful in Edmonton," said Bertsch. "Everything went really smooth, it's just that we drew the No. 1 qualifier and World Champ in the first round. Edmonton has a good bit of altitude, so even though we didn't run our best numbers, when you correct what we ran back to normal conditions, we made some of the best runs we've made to date. We were consistent and it was a good weekend compared to some of the ups and downs we've had this year. Hopefully we can carry that over this weekend."
Living only a few hours from the track, Bertsch is no stranger to Grand Bend Motorplex.
"I've been racing at Grand Bend for years," stated Bertsch. "I only live about two and a half hours from the track. The weather should be nice this weekend, so hopefully we can make some good runs in this Rislone Ford Mustang."
Qualifying begins on Friday for the professional categories with one session, then resumes on Saturday with two more sessions. Final eliminations will conclude the event on Sunday.
