BERNER LANDS 5TH HEADED INTO SUNDAY ELIMINATIONS

EPPING, NH – Torco’s CompetitionPlus.com Pro Stock champion Pete Berner made two solid qualifying runs to land in the 5th position headed into Sunday’s final eliminations during the IHRA Amalie Oil North American Nationals in Epping, New Hampshire.

The first day of qualifying for the event was cancelled due to rainy conditions.

When Berner finally his chance at the New England Dragway racing surface, he didn’t disappoint by propelling his Crete, Ill.-based Pontiac GTO to the provisional pole position. Berner successfully navigated his way to a 6.365, 220.22.

Berner’s final shot tied his speed from the first session but a 6.374 elapsed time just didn’t outperform the competition.

“We just wanted to make good clean runs,” Berner said. “The car was very consistent today and I feel good headed into final eliminations with a car that can repeat the same speed down to the thousandth.”

Berner faces Jeff Dobbins in the first round of eliminations.
