Bazemore used a get-healthy weekend in Norwalk , Ohio to rejuvenate the Matco Tools Top Fuel team. He qualified 10th with a 4.607-second E.T. and advanced to the semifinals for the second time this season.

On the strength of his semifinal effort last weekend in Norwalk , Bazemore jumped to ninth place in the Top Fuel standings. He trails eighth-place driver Melanie Troxel by just seven points and is just 21 points from sixth place.

Last April, Bazemore qualified his Matco Tools Funny Car second at Bristol Dragway with a run of 4.763 seconds 327.03 at mph. He advanced to the semifinals before falling to 13-time NHRA champion John Force.

In late March, Bazemore became the 15th driver in NHRA history to earn poles in both Top Fuel and Funny Car. He has 30 career pole awards, 21 of them coming with Lee Beard as crew chief. Bazemore has an average starting position of 7.54 this season. He and Beard have combined to win 12 races together.

Bazemore has clocked Low E.T. of the Meet honors 25 times and earned the Top Speed of the Meet award 22 times in his career, including last season at Bristol in Funny Car (327.03 mph).
