BARKLAGE RACING 2006 SEASON REVIEW

December 12, 2006 ( LAKE OZARK , MO ) – Barklage Racing endured a challenging but successful 2006 race season. With several event wins in Pro Modified competition, the team feels this was arguably their best season yet.

The season started strong with consistent qualifying in National Event competition. Starting from the top half of the field at most NHRA National Events, the young driving duo of Zach and Cody Barklage both were able to run their career best in 2006. With each event raced, the team put forth a stronger racing effort each round. By the end of the season, the team was running their best elapsed times and mile per hour speeds. When the season drew to an end, they had captured multiple wins at Ozark International Raceway, took another win at the historic Kansas City International Raceway, obtained multiple wins and runner-up’s in Super Chevy Show competition and constantly qualified in the top half of the field in the NHRA AMS / RPM Depot Pro Mod Challenge.

“I feel we had a great season,” said Cody Barklage. “I’m very happy with my 6th place AMS finish. My dad [Tuner, Mark Barklage] worked very hard on giving me the best car possible, and Dave, our Crew Chief, spent countless hours in the shop making it all work, and we were able to come out stronger towards the end of the year. Although we fell short of our Championship goals, we did very well. I know we are already preparing for next year, so I’m hopeful for what we can do in the future. We have a lot we can now build on and we’ve proved we have one of the best race programs out there. For Lucas Oil, Goodyear and the rest of our sponsors, we hope to bring home even more wins in 2007.”

Zach Barklage added, “What can I say? I ran my career best, took home several event wins, and ran side-by-side with my brother. I raced the fastest I have ever raced on both the quarter mile and the eighth. We raced a lot near home and we won a lot at home. It’s always nice to do well at home. Cody did a great job in what was essentially his first year in a professional driver role. Our team worked very hard and it paid off. Like Cody, I think we have a lot we can build on and have an even stronger program for 2007. With each race we have been able to step-up our performance.”

The family based team is already making preparations for 2007. With racing taking a very short break during the off season, testing will resume just shortly after the holiday season. Barklage Racing is making plans to make more appearance in Super Chevy, NHRA and IHRA National Event competition.

Barklage Racing would like to thank Goodyear Tires, Lucas Oil, Goodson Tools, Taylor Cable, Torco Race Fuel, Master Formula, Pit Mat USA, Moreland Well Drilling, Weld Wheels, Total Seal Rings, Diamond Pistons, Liquid and Powdercoat Finishes, and NGK Sparkplugs for their continued support.
