Dude, i love this clip. Its always been one of my favorites. But kind of like 'shane', did milner die at the end for sure?
By the way, that was 'baylands' were it was shot right?
Either way, i loved the racing footage in that movie. The rest of it...well you know what they say about sequels.

I'm pretty sure it was Fremont....

And yeah, the rest was not great.

It was the "wheel shake" that did him in.... LOL!

Why can't they EVER get it right in these movies???

Tiger Mascot. That's it! That's what the NHRA is missing! Just do that NHRA and alls well.

Howabout more nostalia. Didn't Winston NHRA Drag racing have a trophy girl? Jackie Beck if I remember right. Oh those were the days. Yea, 1999. I knew Compton's NHRA was on it's way out when they did away with the Trophy Queen. A drag racing tradition. But then again there are the Energy Girls this, and the Race Girls that.

That was great that someone put that together, having to watch the rest of the the movie to see the racing was painful. How about the blower whine from the blown alky motors? I love that sound. Not sure if I'm right, but I remember hearing that Dave Uyhera (sp?) did some driving in that film, maybe Milner's car?

I think Jackie Beck was the second Miss Winston--the first one I believe was Deb Brittsan--I met her at a Div 5 points raceThunder Valley Raceway in Marion SD when I was racing Super Stock up there. That was back when all the big dogs ran at the division points races (divisionals for all the young folk!) Gary Beck was there, Hagan and Glidden in pro stock--it was great. Since the pro teams attended the points races, most of the major sponsor cadre was there also--Miss Winston and her helpers...come to think of it, I remember the Winston ladies strolling through the pits giving out free packs of cigarettes! Man how things have changed! Forgive my little stroll down Div. 5 memory lane...

Yes,

If you remember the end of the original movie, it was stated that he was killed by a drunk driver on New Year's Eve.

Well, the scriptwriter also fed Steve Evans the wrong line in another part of the movie.

If you listen after the first dragster crash, Evans talks about the car in the "right" lane. Since he is clearly announcing from the tower, the spinout happened to the car in the left lane.

I'm pretty sure that in the background of one of the scenes where Milner has just got back to his pit that there's a 41 Willys that bears a striking resemblance to the "Sleep at Violet Springs" Coupe from the film Hot Rod which was also filmed at Fremont around the same sort of time.

Milner definitely dies btw... the scene in More American Grafitti simply elaborates on the "dragnet" style ending of American Grafitti, which shows Milner as dying in a car crash although in the original release of the film Milner is shown to have died in June 1964, the text was later changed to December 1964 on all subsequent releases of the film to fall in line with the story in the second film.
