The gate was open when the car left the starting line. It can clearly be seen on the video footage.

I talked to Dickie in Denver. There is no footage that I know of that definitively shows the gate position when the car left the line. Dickie is sure it was open. I am sure it was not. I guess we will disagree on this point. Niether of us has any bad feelings toward the other. We just disagree.
