Good News and Bad News -
First off Auto Club Famoso Raceway would like to thank the Kern County Fire Department. Their efforts and quick response saved this season and the March Meet.
The Good News -
The new part of the tower where the almost irreplaceable timing equipment is kept, suffered some minor damage but the equipment inside was spared. If this part of the structure was lost, it would be practically impossible to have replacement equipment built and installed in time for the March Meet.
The Bad News -
The old part of the the tower that had recently been turned into a VIP and hospitality area is gone. The storage area below that housed mission critical equipment is also gone. The structure collapsed during the fire and everything in there was either heavily damaged or lost.
What This Means -
At this point we are still committed to the 2016 schedule as posted. We obviously have our work cut out for us and it will be a struggle to be ready for the MM Test & Tune, but we are committed to making this happen.
We have already been contacted by tracks, racers, fans, and companies across the US offering to lend, send, build, make happen whatever we need to be ready to run. The racing community is strong and we cannot express our heartfelt thanks to the offers of support.
