Yo, the genie's out of the bottle. A bunch of guys with high school educations are making the vaunted Nhra tech department look pretty silly.

Somewhere in that rat's nest of wires and gizmos is a ...........uh, I don't want to be the first one to say those naughty two words.

It doesn't bother me at all, personally. I know I'll get hazed for this, but I don't care; I've said for years they should let them run TC. Nitro cars are as extreme a vehicle as you can get. They've already shortened the course, so let them use whatever they can on the car to get them A to B the quickest way possible and let 'em eat.

And for what it's worth, lowly bracket racers have been making NHRA tech look silly for years............ ;)

Traction control on a nitro car will only do so much. If it's gone, it's gone and no amount of whatever is going to make it come back and still run decent. Look at the aborted runs at BIR by very fast cars with so called traction control if that's the road you want to go down. If it works so great, what happened? Beckman didn't make it 2 times Sunday. Antron, Langdon, Dixon all smoked after incredible runs. Robert was on a monster pass R1 (3.90 +/-) and came loose in the middle. Hagan overshot their goal on the .87 pass, backed it off for R2 and got outrun. If the traction control was so great, why not just run it harder?

Fact of the matter is, everybody hopped the shit out of everything and the timeslips proved it. Sometimes they made it, sometimes they didn't.

imagine the dropped cylinders they would have if you cut ignition for a split second to effect a traction control electrically.....

Your right Paul, Neff was the smart tuner and backed off a little and won the race, and did with mid to low 3.90'S, what a day you got to witness.

Would cutting cylinders through the ignition system, as a form of traction control, even work on a Fuel car? We've all seen videos of Nitro motors running long after the ignition had been killed, right?

Maybe NHRAhas indirectly told these teams go ahead?
