We are an Adobe Service Provider and receive latest program versions. I was excited to receive Creative Suite 3 until I started getting files from high line customers. A 40 page booklet arrived on a DVD because it couldn't be uploaded to our site - 2.4 Gb!
New Adobe CS3 is optimized for Macs with Intel processors and runs like
S$$$ on my 2.4 gig dual processor G5. So . . . no problem! We'll just buy a MacPro.
8 Core MacPro with 4 Gb of Ram . . . $5021.00 - My G5 is now basically scrap metal. Probably too late to sell Exxon and buy Apple - ;)

I hope it'll run better on the new Mac, Jim..and it's not the Mac enhanced Creative Suite 3

The Mac you have should have been capable of running that without issue.

Let us know how it goes.

Those new Macs rock (as they should)..so that's all good. I've never liked their marketing..a new OS every year..updates..can't build one, etc..but it doesn't get any better for a computer..especially in your field.

A couple of issues
1. InDesign runs OK until you go to high res diplay - refresh rate goes to hell.
2. My G5 has ONLY 2 gig of ram - tried to run InDesign, Photoshop and Illustrator at the same time. It was a train wreck. We were warned by Adobe that Intel processors were required for full function speed.
3. It's probably true that these programs should run on an older Mac, but when you try to deal with huge files and the power needed to send them to direct to plate offset presses or digital output, it ain't gonna work.
I'm sure everythng will work just fine after I hand over $5K to Apple - :D
