I personally have not (other than clips on YouTube). But I heard from several friends who saw the 2 Detroit shows last month that they were disappointed. It was a cool concert, with sentimental meaning but they murderd the songs, they made no attempt to play them with integrity of "like they are on the record" and as always, too much ridiculous ad-libbing & screaming by David. My cousin described it as a cheesy David Lee Roth talent show set to Eddie's guitar playing!

Some things ripen with age, but then some things just stink when they get old!!!

I had a feeling this would be the case with Van Halen. I feel really bad for the people that shelled out all that money for the tickets.

The show that has ripened with age is RUSH!!! That is a show to see!!! Just ask Bob Wilbur, the PR guy for Del Worsham!!!:D

I have to agree on RUSH, I saw them only once in 2002, but the next time they tour I'm going to see them again. I hope they play 2112 in it's entirety!

BTW on the Van Halen concert, did they play any Hagar-era songs or was it just the ones from the Roth era?

RUSH was fantastic, but sorry Sam, only bits of 2112... but with 30 years of music, it's hard to do them all!!

(taken by my 11 year old- needless to say, we had pretty good seats..:D)

Their crazy to try and get the $ they want for VH tickets. No offense, but I want to see Michael Anthony on the bass, not Eddie's kid, and I'd rather see Sammy sing then DLR.

Yes, I'm going to sit this one out too. It wasn't all that long ago that Diamond Dave was opening for Bad Co. It's his big mouth I get tired of. I thought the same thing when I saw them in high school. Just shut up and play the songs please.

I saw Rush this time around in Seattle. They were incredible but they didn't sing Closer to the Heart! Other than that the best show I've seen in a while.

I saw Van Halen play back around '98 in Melbourne as a mate of mine scored free tickets. The only way that I would go see them again is if a friend had some more free tickets. I wouldn't pay to go see them. There music is better on the album.

It will be interesting to see if this trainwreak will stay on it's tour dates. Maybe they should team up with Guns'N Roses and see who will "***** out" first!

I'm going to see them in December. I am prepared for them to suck like they did when I saw them with Gary Cherone. However, I am really just going for the nostalgia factor since I saw them with Sammy but never with Roth.

It REALLY sucks that Michael Anthony is not going to be there but I'll just see how it all plays out.

Yeah, I'm planning to see them, too. It's funny, because thier website shows all kinds of sell outs. So that's why I posted this in the first place. But I really haven't heard and stellar reviews so far of the shows that are completed. I can't see Edward and his brother putting up with DLR's antics for too long. So I doubt we'll see a KISS-style milking of this little reunion - I don't expect a live CD, no live DVD, no Grammy appearance or other TV appearances. I think they're just doing it to be able to say they made the effort for the fans' sake. So maybe we better just enjoy whatever we can get.

Not to derail this thread b/c I'm not into this music at all (I'm a hillbilly, only country for me) but I met Gene Simmons at Texas Motorspeedway a few years ago and he is one cool cat! And I have a poker buddy who is a huge Van Halen fan and he paid big money for 2 tickets and even flew up north somewhere a few months ago to watch them and he was dissappointed.

Is this not the second time they have attempted this tour?? At least it has made it for more shows then round 1. I am not sure if they are coming to Denver or not, but I dont see me even thinking about this. I saw Ozzy back in 92 on what was supposed to be his farewell tour. Spent about $75 (as a High school senior, thats about all I had to my name) for this show, and 2 years later he is on a reunion tour. I am over all these has beens coming back to pad the pocketbook.

Now rush on the other hand. Caught them this summer at Red Rocks and WOW! I had sent an email to Wilbur gloating before I went (after his blog about getting tix for the NW somewhere). NEver followed up but I am sure he was just as blown away as I was.

edit: Just saw that Chris is another CO boy, so I guess they are coming out here. Hope you have a great time!
