Wins number 251 and 252, I believe. Top three in T/F and four out of top six in F/C season points. Well done Don, hope you are continuing to be well.

I don't know what rock you have been under, but fuel racing is not easy, no matter how much money you have. I have been honored to meet (and do business with) Don several times and his passion for the sport - NOT his money has resulted in an extremely skilled and motivated team. I've been in many NASCAR, Indycar and NHRA shops and DSR has only one equal - Penske Racing. Also - I have met every driver, most of the crew chiefs, DSR Vice President Mike Lewis and sponsor Terry Chandler. You don't attract and retain people of this caliber with just money. If you have personal experiences that contradict mine, bring 'em !

It's kinda like the old saying "money doesn't buy happines but it sure makes being unhappy a lot more fun and the more money you have the more comfort and fun you can have while being unhappy", or something sorta like that.

Don has arguably the finest organization in the NHRA. Every aspect of their operation is top notch, drivers, crew and equipment. What I find so interesting is even as the leader in the industry, he, along with other champions can't find sponsors to fund the entire operation. Take Gene Snow, Terry Chandler and Hagen's dad out of the equation and 4 of the seven cars would be parked until someone stepped up to individually fund them.

This is by far not a rant on DSR, we would all do the same thing in the same position. It is just an observation of the current times. I think it is a mix of tight corporate budgets, dwindling interest and the astronomical cost involved with the sport. What's the answer, not sure, but as long as we go into every race night wondering when the races will start on ESPN2, I dont think things will get any better.

The TF final was tough to pick sides. On one side, I would have liked to see Brittany get her first win. On the other, Antron is good peoples so it's always cool to see him do good!

The FC final? I'm sure just about everyone in the stands were pulling for Alexis. Hagan is a good guy so I it wasn't all bad.

To be honest, I really wish this is the year that Capps pulls through for his first championship, but sadly his seasons are like a Rob Lowe DirecTV commercial....

"Hello I'm early season / pre-countdown Ron Capps and I have DirecTV. And I'm late season / countdown Ron Capps.... and I have cable."

That is pretty funny Sam. It does seem if they gave the trophy out the first weekend of August rather than the first weekend of November that Ron would have quite a few. I would also like to see Tobler get one.

Would be great if Capp won a championship, he's always great to listen too, one of the nice guys.

Tobler is a super guy, Randy Meyer had him come in on weekends to learning tuning of fuel motors when he started using Nitro, always nice and social. It would be cool see him win with Capps

DSR is starting to get boring. Wish the other teams would step up. I'm sure JFR got boring in the 90s and early 2000s as well. It's all about money these days.

While I cheer for other teams, I'm happy that Don has a passion for NHRA drag racing and invests in the sport. We'd have short fields if he exited.

I often wonder if the bar wasn't raised so high (3.70s to get out of first round), maybe there'd be more teams out there that would enter in the first place. What DSR does for NHRA Drag Racing is exceptional, but it can also be a double edged sword.

There have always been cycles of dominance in racing. Remember during the golden age of drag racing, in '76 when Snake won 7 of 8 national events? Right now DSR is on a nice wave, but I don't believe it's because of money. We may not have 22 cars showing up every race, but anyone in the top ten is capable of winning.

in the cost per run department; i think dsr is at the top of the list, or at the very least tied at the top.

I would tend to disagree. They make all of their parts in house and have 7 cars to amortize the costs. So even if one of the seven cars "blows up" every run, that would be less costly than a team like Tim Wilkerson blowing up once a weekend ... and they don't usually have a car blowing up every run.

john and chris, what i was eluding to was if each car needs new set of pistons every run, new blower belt every run, etc.
regardless of how much the parts cost and/or who makes them, the cars get what they need every run, and i think there are
other teams that provided for their car every run the same as dsr cars, just IMO i don't think anyone exceeds them.
yes, i agree with what both of you said.
