COMPLETE AMERICAN DRAGSTER FIRST-SEASON DVD AVAILABLE NOW
New Rule Productions today announced the availability of a DVD of the first season of the popular ESPN2 reality show, American Dragster, featuring Ron Capps, driver of the Brut Revolution Dodge Funny Car, and Top Fuel champion Tony Schumacher, in the U.S. Army Top Fuel dragster.
This DVD features the complete 2005 season of these drivers each fighting for a championship in their respective categories and includes all the tense, exciting and dramatic moments and behind-the-scenes footage, both on and off the track.
"This DVD is the result of a lot of hard work and dedication by the production crew and drag racing teams," says Ryan Johnson, Director/Executive Producer. "It took an amazing effort to create an entirely new TV show about NHRA POWERade drag racing. It's the first of its kind and we're pleased how well it did.
"The great thing about the DVD is that you can watch the shows back to back and really begin to see the overall storyline in a way that most fans didn't see when it was broadcast on ESPN2. It's a fast-moving series, and viewers will pick up details and comments that they missed the first time. There's really a lot of action and emotion packed in those half-hour shows!
"There are still a few months until our second season starts, and the DVD is a great way to satisfy one's nitromethane cravings in the meantime.
"We've included a lot of extra features as well," adds Johnson. "One of my favorites is the raw, uncut sequence from Las Vegas when Schumacher clinches the 2005 Championship. At the bottom of the track, there's no music, no sound effects, and it's a real eye-opener as to what it's really like.
"When you watch it on the ESPN coverage there's all kinds of pomp and circumstance, and it's always interesting to see how these things really happen. On the DVD you just hear Tony talking, a few people clapping and the crew guys in the background tearing the shrouds off the dragster. True behind-the-scenes action.
"We also unloaded our digital still camera that’s been with us on all of the shows and put together a behind-the-scenes photo montage that has some great images of the teams as well as some of the crew that make American Dragster happen."
American Dragster is a real race show. There are no scripts, no second takes and no setups. The episodes take the viewer into the pits and lives of these participants and the drivers, crew chiefs and crew members tell their own stories, through their eyes, not someone else's. American Dragster strives to show what it is really like to compete at the top levels of the NHRA POWERade Drag Racing Series.
"We worked hard to get this DVD completed before the holidays. It will make a great gift!" Johnson says.
Watch for Season 2 of American Dragster coming soon, exclusively on ESPN2.
I think I need to drop a few subtle hints toward my wife before the holidays
Peace to all,
