I don't think the problem is with the domain registration - I agree with you on that, register it yourself and let the registrar handle DNS. I think the real issue here is the web hosting - the person(s) that actually make the website, with frontend and back end goodies (basically what a full stack developer would do).
And, by the way, this wasn't meant as a bag on the Automan folks. This kind of stuff happens all of the time in the computer world.
