That's too bad.

I built a car a few years ago and made a special effort to buy available parts at Advance (and <FWIW> I told the counter guys their sponsorship influenced my decision).

I'm not even a big fan of Cruz (maybe, less so recently) but, I like to support folks who support NHRA. Guess NAPA will get my $$s now.

PS: I always thought utilizing the Pedregon Brothers was a smart and economical entre to the growing Hispanic market.

PPS: IMHO - Advanced isn't the smartest or best managed marketer. Kind of the Circuit City of auto part retailers (Not for nothing - They were both located in Richmond, VA - maybe they hired the same people.) .

cruz and his attitude and constant crying was not a great repersentation for the company. hey cruz the karma train just arrived at the station- all aboard!!!!! :D

Yeah, it is a real good thing we have another sponsor leaving:rolleyes:. Do you not realize the members of the team could be out of a job because of this? You should stay away from the keyboard because every time you use it on this this site you clearly show everyone else your level of intelligence. You can take your karma and stick it where the sun doesn't shine.

I hope Cruz is able to find a replacement for next year.

[:D
Who here really thinks that his crying didn`t have some bearing on this action????

I doubt it had a thing to do with it.

Prolly just trying to save money. I suppose it remains to be seen whether it was a good business decision or not.

See earlier reference to Circuit City: A few months before they went out of business, they fired all their high earning sales people and put everybody on (low) salary. How often do we see dumb companies "lose all the good guys and keep the bums"? It often happens all too often.

I sure hope cruz finds another sponsor! Would suck not to have him out there. Guess ill start shopping elsewhere.

Big companies on the verge of financial problems do things like that. My wife, a long time ago, worked in a Sears auto center and while being paid on commission became one of the highest paid employees in that entire store operation. She had hundreds of clients who would only buy from her and when some know it all stud came in, she would dazzle him with her knowledge of the tire and battery business. Sears cut the sales commissions for all auto center employees and she left for the big box sales. That was the beginning of the downfall for the Sears brand. Remember those great Die Hard Battery commercials?

x2

next time be a man Cruz instead of the crying baby you are. Hey may be Kleenex wants to sponsor you!!

Well... I must say, Advance has been with Cruz for a pretty long time, and I am glad they were with him so many years (5-6?). It's a shame to see them go.

When a major automotive-related company no longer sees sufficient return on their marketing dollars in the NHRA, perhaps it is time for the gentlemen and gentleladies in Glendora to consult with the businesspeople in this sport for advice. I nominate Don Schumacher, Bob Tasca, Don Prudhomme, and Joe Amato to the advisory panel.
Cheers,
Ed

It's a damn shame is what it is. He's a good driver and marketable. But like I have been saying...these days it costs more to run a team than what it's worth to most big companies with a few exceptions. But it seems like we are waving by-by to sponsors and teams one at a time. So why is that?. Drag racing can be a very marketable asset but there's only so much most companies are willing to spend especially in the sour economy we now all face.

it seems like now a days with the economy a teams marketing and public relation guy or gal is and should be the most paid and important link to a professional team.
