Adios Paul Page

 So, was Pomona II indeed Mr. Page's last NHRA ESPN2 appearance? I've kind of taken a step back from following racing in recent months, for varying reasons .... but I heard the rumblings about Marty coming back onboard next year. If I'm wrong, please forgive me. I hope everyone has a great off season :D

I think Paul and Mike worked well together and whoever they put in will take a while to find his place. Gotta be from a media background as 2 ex drivers together just wont work. You gotta have someone to keep it flowing and Paul did that well after he found his feet. I think he got better as he got that passion that we all have. He copped alot as he had big shoes to fill but he ended up being the right man for the job.

I hope whoever takes over grows into the position the same way Paul did.

It wouldnt be an easy gig.

I thought Paul did just fine; he sometimes didn't get all his facts straight, but he also didn't continually tow the NHRA line, when something needed to be challenged, he did it.

Marty Reid on the other hand...well...let's just say I hope Dave Reiff doesn't get another job soon, he will be needed.

don't know what position he'd be best at but bret kepner know's his ch*t
and continues to be highly enthusiastic about drag racing; catch video clips
of him calling the cordova world series every summer.....i could listen to that
guy for a whole race easily.

Paul, don't know if you read any of this stuff, but personally, I will miss your voice on the broadcasts.

I have to admit that at first, I don't really think your heart was in it, but as you grew to know the sport and the people, I felt a sincere change in your attitude. Your excitement was genuine, or at least I feel that it was, and your knowledge of our sport and your broadcasting skills improved every year.

You and Mike made a good team, like I said, I will miss your involvement.

Best of luck wherever you land.

I've seen Mr. Kepner announcing at events where he's walking around with just a wireless mic and the information stored in his head. He has interesting facts and tidbits about nearly every driver that pulls up to the line. His knowledge and enthusiasm for the sport is, in my opinion, second to none.

Pretty classy of Beckman to give Paul a mention, I don't believe anyone else did, which I don't understand. Kinda weird, no? Having said that, I think Paul was very likeable, and seemed to really love drag racing. Good luck to him in the future.

I always felt Paul and Mike complimented each other nicely.

Paul was a professional voice with a Drag Racing learning curve: Mike a race brain with a way to go as a broadcaster.

They each grew nicely in the role, no doubt, with the help and forbearance of the other.

Godspeed Paul - Hope the road continues to be interesting and fun!

I know some on this board didn't like Paul, but I did, and always have, going back to his days announcing Indy.

Good luck Paul Hope you find yourself another good gig.

Personally I thought Paul did a fine job. I never really had an opinion of him one way or another before I saw him drive in some pro/am celebrity race a few years ago. That man can flat DRIVE! Ever since then I saw him in a different light, maybe as a real car guy. Sorry to see him go, and whoever is next has some shoes to fill.

this was not paul's first rodeo with the nhra.
IMO he is able to announce over a broad range of sporting events
(ex: the x games) with a forte' in motorsports.

mike dunn needs a female counterpart.
how many ladies are at every race anyways, why not put one in the booth
and keep the camera on her....even when mike is talking :D
kinda' joking but kinda' not joking, nhra needs every bit of help it can get
for their TV ratings.
(amber gray would be my first selection)
