AAA starting to scale back their sponsorship.? (1 Viewer)

AAA i believe was with densham prior to driving for force, and AAA took over sponsorship of final race of year i think around 1999 or 2000.
winston had it previously, and the anti-tobacco thing was looming and powerade was going to start.......so that's around 23-25 years ago AAA has been
associated with the nhra......yes, i agree, i think this the beginning of end for their involvement. they've had a great run in the sport.

Tom McKernan grew AAA exponentially during his leadership, and was the force at AAA behind the sponsor money. His daughter, Megan, drove Jerry Darien's A/Fuel dragster for a few years. Tom retired in 2012 as CEO of So Cal AAA, and his replacement may or may not be less likely to embrace Tom's advertising vision for the company for the long term. For the last 10 years it seems like nothing has changed, but I'm hoping Alan will correct me if I'm wrong.

is it possible that AAA is staying onboard, but AAA of SoCal is dropping? I believe AAA did sponsor the car in large markets like Dallas & St. Louis

Starting might be a bad choice of words(lol)they've been cutting back slowly for sometime. The NASCAR race at Fontana has been the AAA 400 for years and this year its the Pala Casino 400. When the top brass change where the money goes changes along with it.
