After watching the 4 wide passes tonight, I got to thinking, would the other side of the track get to be put in play for the 2010 Spring Nationals? In other words run eliminations on that half. I was extremely impressed that both Antron Brown and Del Worsham got down the lane closest to the east grandstand, 3.86 for Antron and a 4.20 for Del. Perhaps the best side of the track isn't currently being used. This may have been previously discussed, I did a search and didn't find anything. But, what about the possibility of eventually opening it up to lane choice gets the pick of any of the four lanes, leaving the other 3 to their competitor???? For qualifying, drivers get one pass down each lane. Just a few thoughts.

On a side note, I moved away from the former site of the Springnationals, National Tral Raceway, and now years later it has tracked me down. Cool for me:D I do feel for the Virginia fans, sucks to get toyed around with.

I have been wondering if Bruton will finally complete The Strip at LVMS now. The track was designed for 4 wide racing, though they only built 2 lanes at NHRA's request, and there is plenty of room at LVMS to add the additional lanes.

The question then becomes does that give them an unfair competitive advantage? Does it obsolete other drag strips as other fear? I know this, if I lived in the southeast and was a casual fan, I am not going to Bristol (ironically another Bruton track), I am not going to that dump in Commerce, I am not going to Richmond or Budds Creek ... my dollars would be spent at Concord.

They worked on those 2 lanes for a long time and they did a great job.

Before the passes they interviewed Snake and he said how he would love them to run qualifying on all 4 next year.

No need to obsolete tracks, after it happens a few times then the newness will wear off. All tracks will be fine and usable. Some 4 lane, some 2, some 1000' some 1320. Add some variety and spice

Kinda like baseball stadiums, no two the same... Hmmm... that's an interesting take on it. Never thought about it that way. Make them all have their own personality. Maybe somebody can grow ivy on the walls to make it look like Wrigley :)
