OK, it's really concrete but 48 year old New England Dragway served up one of the most competitive Drag Races in a long time. Give these crews 2 good lanes and the racing is excellent. The only pedal fest was in Pro Stock. Congrats to NHRA , New England Dragway and the NHRA Pro Racers for putting on one hell of a race.

The right lane took a minute to come around, but once everyone over there stopped trying to rotate the earth, the side by sides were amazing.

THAT'S what racing is all about.... close racing, upsets, holeshot wins, and lane choice not really a factor. Lots of unexpected outcomes making it one of the most enjoyable races in a long time. The folks in the Land of NED put on a good one!

[QUOTEwhrry Larsen, post: 330477, member: 1677"]Are you going to Sonoma by any chance, Joe?[/QUOTE]

Terry what movie would you be talking about.

Two Lane Blacktop was one of the better "Pro Street Racing" movies (when I was young) wasn't some singer in it... James Taylor, maybe?

So are the Harley's like comp and worried about their CIC hit :) lol

Yessir, Karl. A little more trivia...it starred James Taylor and Dennis Wilson of Beach Boys fame, and Warren Oates as the driver of the GTO. And, the primered black 55 Chevy they drove is the same car with a few modifications that Falfa (Harrison Ford) drove in American Graffiti. Jesse, its a real cult classic and still available through Amazon, and it shows up every once in a while on some of the movie services. If you get a chance, it's one every car guy should see once. Best line in the movie "they're just a bunch of small-town car freaks"

You know a lot of it was filmed around Santa Fe, NM. That Drive Inn they were driving through looking for a race is still there. It's called Bert's Burger Bowl!

I didn't know that Joe....I knew some of it was shot in NM but not where in particular

The Roadster James Taylor ended up racing belonged to a racer named Ben Cordova, they did 3-4 takes and on one take the Roadster had an Engine fire! Ben said they paid him $2,500 for all his troubles!

Thanks for the info, Joe. It will add to it next time I watch it (and I do watch it regularly....really cool to see two great musicians who are truly bad actors!)
