(Gainesville, FL) For Steve Kent and Rodger Brogdon Sunday’s eliminations came to an end about an hour and a half earlier than the RACERS EDGE (OTC: MCHU) /Attitude Apparel team had anticipated. To say that the way the day came to an end was a surprise would certainly be an understatement. After running flawlessly through qualifying and the first 2 rounds of eliminations the team found themselves on the verge of their first NHRA Pro Stock final round. With data collected from earlier runs the team felt confident that their plan of running a mid-6.53 second run against Jason Line should be sufficient to achieve that final round destination. What happened during the run though caught everyone totally by surprise. “Everything was...
GAINESVILLE FL - It was a weekend of mixed results for Duane Shields at the Tire Kingdom NHRA Gatornationals. Shields driving the Shortline Express A/Fuel Dragster actually had two races in one weekend as the final round of the Division 2 event from South Georgia Motorsports Park was also contested in addition to the Gatornationals. For Shields, the best part of the weekend happened during qualifying where he once again qualified on the pole with a sizzling 5.20 at 274 MPH. Then on Saturday, the Divisional 2 final round was contested where Shields won his second race of the season. Shields’ final round opponent was Randy Meyer. Meyer got off the line first with an 0.027 to Shields’ 0.097. Meyer then rattled the tires which opened...
Gainesville, FL. - For twenty-year old NHRA Pro Stock Motorcycle driver Katie Sullivan, the past couple of years have been filled with valuable lessons in patience since debuting as the youngest female to pilot and qualify in Pro Stock Motorcycle at the age of eighteen. The family-run Sullivan Racing team operates as most team's do, built from the ground up, spending countless hours in the garage on the weekends, using the resources of the family business and help from valuable friends and family volunteering along the way. There have been many bumps and bruises for the team so far. It’s been a test of will and a test of determination. It’s a patient fire that burns deep, a fire, which will soon lead to greatness. This weekend...
GAINESVILLE, Fla. (March 13, 2011) - The best keeps getting better for 25-year-old Pro Stock Motorcycle rider Jim Underdahl. Despite a losing effort in his first-round eliminations match-up against reigning NHRA Full Throttle World Champion LE Tonglet, Underdahl was able to record new personal bests in ET and speed, continuing his momentum from the end of last season. During qualifying, Underdahl bumped his career-best speed to 196.87 mph, and in his first-round match against Tonglet, he blasted to a career-best elapsed time of only 6.881-seconds, besting his time of 6.894-seconds he set just last year at the final race in Pomona. In the race, Underdahl took a slight advantage off the starting line against Tonglet, but was unable...
ummit Racing Pro Stock driver Greg Anderson delivered a strong performance on Sunday, powering his way to a runner-up finish at the Tire Kingdom NHRA Nationals in Gainesville, Florida. After being one of three drivers to record the quickest elapsed time in NHRA Pro Stock history in qualifying at 6.495-seconds, Anderson started from the third position based on a top speed tie-breaker. Racing in temperatures substantially warmer than the previous two days, he used a combination of driving acumen and solid performances to defeat Larry Morgan, Shane Gray and Ron Krisher in the early rounds to advance to the 96th final round of his stellar career. Anderson’s opponent for the championship run was a familiar one – his teammate Jason...
Pomona, Calif., March 13, 2011 – Jason Line and the Summit Racing team continued their torrid start to the 2011 Full Throttle Drag Racing season on Sunday, winning the Pro Stock title at the Tire Kingdom NHRA Gatornationals in Gainesville, Florida. Starting from the fourth position, Line defeated Vincent Nobile, Erica Enders and No. 1 qualifier Rodger Brogdon in the early rounds before squaring off against his Summit Racing teammate Greg Anderson in the final. Throughout their careers, the KB Racing teammates have been known for their close races, and today’s run was no exception. Although Line was able to get jump on the starting line, Anderson made an exceptional run in the less-preferred left hand lane, powering through the...
Team Mopar® Dodge Pro Stockers Allen Johnson, Kurt Busch Exit in First Round at NHRA Gatornationals Gainesville, Fla. (March 13, 2011) – Team Mopar® NHRA Pro Stock drivers Allen Johnson and Kurt Busch bowed out early today in the elimination rounds at the Tire Kingdom NHRA Gatornationals, losing to Greg Stanfield and Erica Enders, respectively, at Gainesville Raceway. Johnson, the No. 9 qualifier in his J&J Racing Mopar Dodge Avenger, faced No. 8 Stanfield in the opening round, without lane choice. The Team Mopar veteran shook the tires as soon as he left the starting line and watched his opponent speed down the track to seize the round win. “We have to qualify well. Being first out is a place that we’re not familiar...
A broken rod in Sunday’s first round of the Gatornationals created havoc in the engine and slowed Clay Millican’s Parts Plus Top Fuel dragster just about the time he thought he might be getting a win light for his new sponsors. Instead, the car slowed to 3.940 seconds at 296 mph to open the door for Shawn Langdon’s win with a 3.871 at 312.93 “We had a very good day,” Millican said. “It was fun to be back at the track. I wish we could’ve had a round win, but we had the motor problem. It dropped three cylinders and broke three rods. It just quit big time. “I could hear Shawn, but I couldn’t see him until the car slowed way down. That’s racing.” The team plans to stay and test at the track on Monday. “We have some...
