Pre-Race Quotes:

“The Kalitta Air Careers team makes my job a lot easier and gives me confidence. If you surround yourself with a great team, like everybody at Kalitta Motorsports and Kalitta Air, they do such a good job with the race car – I just try to hold the thing straight. When it dances the front end around a little bit, that’s usually when you know it’s on a really good run, and that’s just a testament to this team. The guys have done a great job giving me a great race car all season, and all the hard work that they did in the off season is paying off. A lot of things they looked at trying to improve from the last two years; little by little, they’re showing so it’s a good feeling.

“We just we have a really good group of guys right now. I mean across the board on all three (Kalitta) teams. What this team is doing this year speaks volumes about how good they really are. I definitely feel like we have two great Top Fuel cars and a great-running Funny Car right now. We just have to keep doing what we do and hopefully pick up more wins.

“I’ve always liked going to South Georgia – cars always seem to run really well there. It was always fast, and that’s why we always enjoyed going there – we always knew it would be fast when we went bracket racing there. Typically, it was towards the end of the year when I’d run there, but it was like 10 or 12 years ago.

“I think going to four new tracks on the tour this year is great – I like that we’re racing at new places. That’s not a knock on the other races, but we’ve been going to the same places for a while. We go to some pretty awesome places, no doubt, but it’s also nice to go to new markets and new tracks and show different markets what we do. I’m excited about going to different tracks this year.”
