BROWNSBURG, Ind. (April 17, 2026)

AB Motorsports Accelerate Program athlete Angelle Sampey has been named to the Motorsports Hall of Fame of America’s Class of 2027, further cementing her legacy as one of the most accomplished and influential competitors in drag racing history.

A three-time NHRA Pro Stock Motorcycle world champion, Sampey dominated the category in the early 2000s, capturing consecutive titles from 2000 to 2002 and setting the standard for excellence on two wheels.

Her 46 career victories rank third all-time in Pro Stock Motorcycle, and she remains one of only a select few female drivers across NHRA’s professional ranks to surpass double-digit national event wins and earn multiple world championships.

Known for her consistency, competitiveness, and longevity, Sampey helped pave the way for women in motorsports while building a career spanning more than three decades at the highest levels of the sport. Now continuing her journey with AB Motorsports as the first athlete in the team’s Accelerate Program, Sampey has transitioned into the Top Alcohol Dragster category, gaining valuable seat time as she works toward the Top Fuel ranks. Her continued progression, which includes a national event win, reflects both her versatility as a racer and her commitment to evolving within the sport.

“I found out when we were in Phoenix testing, and I was shocked,” said Sampey. “It’s honestly probably the biggest honor that I’ve had in my career. I’ve dedicated 30 years of my life to this sport and made some serious sacrifices both personally and professionally just to do what I love doing. Moments like this make it all worthwhile.”

Sampey’s induction recognizes not only her championship success but also her lasting impact on the sport. When she’s not racing the first canopy-equipped Top Alcohol Dragster backed by Hangsterfer’s Metalworking Lubricants, Sampey serves as the brand ambassador for Mission Foods.

ABOUT AB MOTORSPORTS:

Established in 2019, AB Motorsports is a single-car NHRA Top Fuel team owned and operated by four-time world champion Antron Brown. The team competes on the 20-race NHRA Mission Foods Drag Racing Series circuit thanks to the support of Matco Tools, Hangsterfer’s Metal Working Lubricants, Factory Motor Parts and its FVP brand, Scouting America, World Wide Technology, Red Line Oil, Summit Racing Equipment, Streamlight, Western Technical College, Genesis Attachments, Centroid Performance Racing, and Autoland Outlets. Headquartered in Brownsburg, Indiana, AB Motorsports made its on-track debut in 2022 and has collected 12 wins throughout its first three seasons.

Brown, who serves as both the driver and owner of the AB Motorsports Top Fuel dragster, is the only competitor in NHRA history to have won races in both the Top Fuel and Pro Stock Motorcycle categories. In addition to his 50 No. 1 qualifier awards, Brown is an 81-time NHRA national event winner and became the first Black driver to win a major U.S. auto racing championship when he captured his first NHRA Top Fuel series title in 2012. He made history again in 2024 when he captured his first Top Fuel crown as a team owner, becoming the first Black championship-winning owner/driver.

In 2023, Brown launched the AB Motorsports Accelerate Program, an all-encompassing driver development initiative aimed at helping racers advance in their careers. Three-time Pro Stock Motorcycle world champion Angelle Sampey was the first athlete to join the Accelerate Program. She made her Top Alcohol Dragster debut in October 2023 and continues to compete in the category as she progresses toward the premier Top Fuel class.
