INDINAPOLIS. (September 7, 2009) -- Today marks the 55th time drag racing competitors face off at O'Reilly Raceway Park at Indianapolis for final eliminations at the U.S. Nationals, T.J.Zizzo and the PEAK, HERCULINER / O'Reilly Top Fuel Dragster will be among the elite 16 finalist.
Zizzo will face Tony Schumacher in round one action in what could be deemed the Battle of Illinois Route 22. Zizzo and Schumacher live just a few miles from each other, Zizzo in Lincolnshire and Schumacher in Long Grove. "I wouldn't call it a turf war," Zizzo joked. "But it certainly would be nice to have bragging rights around the neighborhood."
"We had a little bit of a new combo we were working with this weekend. We haven't hurt a thing so far and we're happy about that."
Zizzo improved with each qualifying attempt, saving his best for lap for the last qualifying attempt with a 3.972 elapsed time at 308.14 MPH.
Three hours of race day coverage for the 55th running of the U.S. Nationals begins at 12:00pm on ESPN2.
