WORSHAM'S IMPALA DEBUT IS GOOD ENOUGH FOR LUCKY No. 7

Del Worsham hit the track with his new Checker, Schuck's, Kragen Chevy Impala on Friday, and finished the day with a strong 4.803 to land 7th after one day of qualifying in Las Vegas.

"Not at all a bad way to start," Worsham said. "We have the new Impala on the car, so the first run this afternoon was my first time in one of these new designs, where you sit way back behind the side windows. It drove like a dream, I could see just fine, and I think it's going to be a great addition to our team. On the first run, we were probably just over-tuned a little bit, and although it was really hauling to about 330, it kind of drove into tire spin on us. During the night session, which is really the critical run here, we put a nice solid lap on the board. Your ego wants the number to be 4-thousandths quicker, because a 4.79 is just cooler than a 4.80, but it was a nice solid pass, the car is planted really well, and we'll move on to Saturday knowing we have a solid number on the board."
