Great article, Rich. I have been to Woodburn many times over the years. I try to plan my vacations back to WA to include the Oldies but Goodies nostalgia drags at Woodburn. It is my favorite track, with all the memories I have there.
In two weeks they will again host the Oldies but Goodies drags. I can't wait.

And Jay's really a nice guy. But they desperately need to repave from about 1/2 track on, some nasty bumps. Jay says it's the next thing on the to-do list, let's hope they can get it done.

Very nice article! It is a great track and I had a lot of fun there in the years I spent in Oregon. A couple of those corndogs sounds really good right now.

They already did some grinding on it. I had some traction problems last time I was there but I don't think it was the track, I think it was my tune up as I wasn't getting enough wheel speed. I think things will be different next week.

Jay said the had issues with the newest concrete, a couple years old, (first couple hundred feet) being too smooth and not holding rubber. So they ground it with a floor polisher. And that seems to have helped.

But the larger issues are some of the bumps down track (600' on). He's hoping the can redo the back half, maybe all concrete. We'll see.

Jim and Jay have always tried to put money back in the track. Sometimes they do it on track, or the updated bathrooms, wider pits, etc. Jay will get it taken care of.
I will have to check out the mexican stand in a few weeks. thanks for the heads up.

The tracks where the people actually own the facility seem to be the best kept such as woodburn and firebird in Boise. When a promoter is leasing it's hard for them to justify making any improvements since they could lose their lease when it expires.
