Tim Wilkerson made two solid laps here in Phoenix on Friday, but the current stout group of competitors in this class illustrated why it's going to be a very competitive season in the Funny Car class. Wilk ran 4.104 in Q1, and that was good enough for the No. 8 spot, during a session in which a few good teams failed to negotiate the full 1,000 feet.
