Those were pretty good puddles of fluid coming from under the car.
All the way to the tree.

Well, Force fans can now never complain about the AJ/Shoe deal that November Saturday night at Pomona a couple years ago.

Wilk wins the round, yet ESPN2 interviews motormouth. WTF?!

It was just an RPM reaction time test to see how quickly John could get off the throttle as the revs went to the moon due to the wet slick. Since no rods were launched at the fans in the stands,,,HE PASSED the test! ;):D

...Did Rick Stewart instruct Austin/John to shut-off as in the other deal...?

...dont think so................

It was a fuel leak that they apparently remedied to the satisfaction of Rick Stewart. I'd be willing to bet money that if Rick Stewart had decided to shut them off, they would have and their crew chief would not have overruled his decision at the line.
Not every team can say that, however.

Everyone was safe, which is the objective of an official's decision.

"...to the satisfaction of Rick Stewart."
That's not saying much.

So it's OK to send a car with puddles of fuel coming out of it down the strip.
Got it. So much for the safety arguement.

When he pulled to stage.. the puddle did not follow him...but.... if you look at the footage of the launch.. there is another that did follow.... almost like the fixxed it..but when staged and fuel was all the way on.... it started again...

I think Tony Schu set the mark.

Even if the starter says shut if of, you don't have to. And no penalty.

So Force haters could start an internet thread. Dont you know thats why he exists Paul? Whatever.

With that said, I was surprised they did let him run. But you cant compare it to the Shoe deal for 2 reasons:

A. As much as Rick Stewart is a putz, if he had told Force/Coil to kill it, they WOULD have.

B. The implications on the points.

Whats funny is as I was watching it I told my wife, "I bet $100 that nitromater already has a thread about this on it."

There was a puddle and it appeared that they were able to stock the leak. Remember Capps and the Glove a few years ago. No issue here

It was fuel, not oil!

Sure, fuel on the track and/or tires can cause a loss of traction which may result in an accident but it evaporates extremely quick, unlike oil. They thought the leak was fixed, they let the car stage, it became obvious it wasn't fixed..... Force lost a round, not a big deal, fire the next pair! If it was oil on the track, thats another story!

I wasn't at the track so I can't be 100% positive, but I'm willing to bet there was NO delay for track cleanup after Force's run.

Yeah...not even the same thing. Shoe and AJ were told by Stewart to shut off and they did not. Force was never told to shut off...see the difference? Blatently disobaying the starter is a big offense in my book...

I have no interest in diffusing the contempt some have for "all things Force" but the fact is that seldom does a fuel car come to a stop at the end of a burnout without a small puddle of fuel left on the racing surface.
Our puny little alcohol cars do it at times and it's never been a problem whatsoever as the fuel evaporates nearly immediately at most acceptable track temperatures. Now oil, trans fluid, brake fluid and many other lubricants or even anti-freeze on the other hand becomes a completely separate issue.

Lastly, Rick Stewart's satisfaction actually IS the last word on the track from the sanctioning body prior to the run taking place. Whether you trust his word or not really doesn't matter as the NHRA does and gives him authority to make such a call. There have been many very good calls made by Rick over the years and since they trust him it's every NHRA competitor's responsibility to live by his final call.

Is there an echo in here? :D

No puddles were under the BRUT car like the Castrol EDGE car.
And there was a time when the BRUT car was shut off in Maple Grove for an imaginary oil leak.

It was a bunch fuel, not oil!

Fixed. There were some arguments for safety that November Saturday. They "should" apply here, but it appears to be a selective thing.

You're correct! They weren't! Why not? Where's the safety? Coulda T-boned Wilk.

If it was you, would you send the car down?

And like I said in another thread, tip of the cap to Mike Neff and John Medlen.
2 good guys with many wins in their futures.

That BUNCH of fuel was BEFORE the starting line..... not on the "track". You're forgetting one thing.... THEY THOUGHT THE LEAK WAS FIXED! That BUNCH of fuel was after the burn box, but BEFORE the starting line. How was that puddle going to affect the car AFTER the starting line? Sure, as it turns out, the leak wasn't fixed..... but how was anyone to know it would leak again after the green light came on. I know I didn't see anything on my crystal ball that led me to believe it would leak again and I'm sure Rick Stewart didn't either.

Can you give me an example of when a car was shut off on the line for a fuel leak..... after the team thought the leak was fixed? (honest question. my memory is short)

Paul, it's clear that you don't care for the Force team and thats fine. We'll just have to agree to disagree on this one.
