welcome to the real world Alan R.

Meaning what? I live in the real world. What would the odds have been on Richard Freeman qualifying #1? Or Matt Hartford being in the final? Or a couple of weeks ago Pat Dakin being in the final? Please inform me.

i didn't see any emojis so i guess your serious....... despite our love for drag racing, it is not really on the national radar. proof of that was torrence not winning that award. i bet statistically torrence had the best past 12 months of any athlete in any sport including Brady, Lewis Hamilton etc. and in a perfect world he should be the athlete of the year or at the very least the driver of the year. as far as freeman and hartford, why are u surprised since they all come out of the same shop and use the same engine builder !!

I know that Las Vegas has had lines on NHRA National events at the LVMS - not at all of the sports books, but a few have had them in the past. For NHRA drag racing to be in sports books nation wide, the book makers would have to be pretty familiar with NHRA drag racing. I suspect very few are...

I always bet on NHRA when they used to have the line for the Vegas events. The big issue is they would need to employ an expert on NHRA racing to create the odds that give them profit. I was told by a Palms casino employee one time that they didn’t get enough wagers on NHRA to make it worth their time.

Now with mobile betting apps getting pretty big around the country, being able to bet on NHRA Racing could really help the sport. Imagine having an account setup and being able to bet any or every first round matchup from the grandstands or even your couch. With the correct odds being placed they can alter them in real time to get equal betting on each side to collect their vig and make a profit. This would be something that could take NHRA to another level. I doubt it will ever happen but one can only hope.

Dare I say it, perhaps drag racing is more easily rigged than other sports and you have people for whom the risk would be worth it.
Formula One takes tens of millions of dollars just to make it to the grid, not worth a betting scandal. But a group of people on upper middle class incomes could theoretically field a pro-level vehicle in the NHRA. Perhaps there are ways around this, like only allowing betting on event or championship winners, or limiting the total dollars bet on any one race.

What are the odds on Force winning #150 this year? Who would you bet on to win T/F at the next race? As smart as all the people on this site are, it's still hard to predict who will win. Maybe a drag racing gambling "house" would make good $$, cuz ya never know who will win round one, let alone the race. Maybe we could get Alan to do a video, "What Are The Odds?" heh

Meh, Force throws enough races without the temptation of winning big money on a bet. Remember Pete Rose.

Force: what are the odds on me and Hight in the next round ??
LV: 4:1 why ?
Force: put me down for 10 big dimes ($100,000)
LV: done

Force: hey Prock smoke em....................

If there's enough money to put on both sides of the outcome, Las Vegas will handles the bet (and take their cut): That's how parimutuel betting works.
I suspect, there's just not enough folks who want to jump in the pool.

What does that have to do with betting?
If we are to believe it wasn't on the list because outcomes can be manipulated NHRA teams go about it in a shady way and F1 doesn't. My opinion is this is not the reason. I think it is a combination of drag racing not getting due respect and possibly not enough revenue for the casinos to bother. While RaceDayScore was running I was shocked how little interest there was in it.
