The Pacific ProComp Assoc. is trying to find a track to replace the Fontana event that got nixed by the noise and there are few if any alternatives! Here's a related story inspired by this... Cap Racing Home Page

Trust me when I say you are taking your life in your own hands trying to get a big rig up there. 10% grades, switchbacks, etc. I made the mistake of taking my rig there once (81 feet long). Plus at the end of the 1/8th mile track is a cliff.

I think "bench racing" is the only acceptable form of drag racing in California these days...and only until they figure out how to stop that too

Late Breaking...Drag racing is alive and well in California.

Randy, you DO look good in red, but I'd touch up the 5 o'clock shadow next time.

On a serious note.

So Cal's situation is GRIM!

Probably the hottest racing going on here in California. Home Page

Note the crowd lining the fence. YouTube - ‪Eagle Field Drags 2011‬‏ Rich Roberts admitted that he got a little carried away.

And keep in mind that there are still groups out there that are working on creating opportunities for perminate racing facilities. They're just going about it without the fan fair.

Randy, Barona has changed a lot over the years. Dont know when you went the but taking SCripps Parkway is the best for someone with a rig your size(Kinda big for just a golf cart dont you think?) The track has been extened another 300 feet. Jet car has gone 3.95 there and a piston driven car has gone 4 flat. Best speed is 191 by the jet car.

I took John Lombardo Jr there to do some burnouts and launches in my car in 2008 right after we got him licensed. On the first run John did his burnout and just as he was pulling up to stage Mike Rice came running up to me and asked me if I knew that it was an 1/8th mile track with a short shut off and a cliff at the end. He knows my car runs over 200 mph in the 1/8th and you'd never get it stopped in time I guess. I told him John was just going to run it to about 100 feet and click it off. I remember the announcer getting all excited because we set a new 60 foot time track record. I'm not sure but I think we had a .955 60' time or something like that.

Getting there was quite the adventure. Getting outta there was one, too. The Highway Patrol had to close an intersection so I could make the turn to get back to the freeway. After I straightened it out there was a little sign on the right shoulder that said NO TRUCKS OVER 10,000 GVW. Ooops!
