It is only a matter of time before it happens everywhere. People go to events to say they were there not to actually watch. F1 is probably the best example right now. Thousands easily for tickets, tens of thousands for hospitality tickets. A thousand a night at local hotels.
I don't think it will ever happen with NHRA not enough fan base but then again if you make it exclusive to the rich it might just "grow" the sport. You need to make it a spectacle like F1 in Vegas.
 
i've always thought this is the reason that some of the off-shore boat sponsors (stihl for example), never look at drag racing.
the lifestyle and locations they run at are pretty swanky. warm, sunny, ocean locations. seaside accomodations, dining, and parties.
sitting under an awning tied to a semi hauler probably has little appeal to them.
