Is that the old Tulsa International Raceway, where most of the touring pros held the "National Challenge" in '72, the same weekend as Indy?

Martin....you know somethin' about road trips...Myself and three buddies headed down to Tulsa from east central IL in '72 to visit a high school friend of ours that was attending some type of aviation school in that area. I had mentioned that there were some drags going on in town that weekend so we went out for Sat qual and the race Sunday...actually I went out to the race on Sunday....the other fellas had seen enough as they were casual fans at best. Got back to the Apt complex, they all seemed rested up so I suggested we go ahead and start back home for the 10 hour trip. We hauled ass and rolled in about 5:30 the next morning. They dropped me off at my house, I showered, changed clothes, made a phone call and was off to Indy for the finals. Saw A LOT of fuel cars that weekend.

Yes, it's the same track. But, it is greatly improved over what it was like back then.
The National Challenge was held at Tulsa in '72 and '73. I spent my nights both years in the parking lot of the Holiday Inn closest to the track.

When I went to the World Finals there in '67. the bleachers were covered (like Bowling Green.)

I wonder if they're still covered? That was great....

The frame work is still there on the right lane (spectator) side bleachers, but the frames are bare.

Tulsa is the only track I've ever worked where I could fly in, rent a car at the airport, drive to the hotel (the old Holiday Inn is still there, but it is now a Ramada), drive to and from the track for three days, and return the rental car without having to put gas in it. The gas gauge needle in my compact rental car didn't move - I used maybe a gallon of gas for the entire weekend!

They prefer to call it the "New" Tulsa International Raceway...err Tulsa Raceway Park but yes, the same place!! The new ownership has sunk a ton of money into improvements. This is great news for OK, Texas, and Kansas Divisional racers, giving them another fine facility to compete at.

Watched many an enjoyable AHRA race there before moving to Phoenix.

Interesting. Wonder if they'll be angling for Noble's D4 event in the coming years?
Edit - Nevermind... apparently they got their own date in the Spring.
