July 12, 2007 ( INDIANAPOLIS , IN ) – After suffering another accident several weeks ago, Torkelson Racing has taken some time off to rebuild and regroup. Now, the team is back in action and will resume competition with a new driver and a new look.
Beginning this weekend, long time Pro Mod driver Jim Wiens of Nixa , Missouri will assume the driver role of Torkelson’s 53 Corvette. The veteran driver has several years experience in various Pro Mod classes and has been a National record holder in NHRA Comp Eliminator.
“I am honored and flattered Wayne [Torkelson] has chosen me to drive his car in Super Chevy competition,” said Wiens. “He has been working many 10 hour days just to have the car ready this weekend. We still have some work ahead of us, but things are coming together nicely. Driving a car of this caliber on a National Event level is really a dream come true for me.
