Why has the name Torco been dropped from the NHRA event scheduled for Richmond, Virgina October 10-12?

Ron Pellegrini

I could only imagine..................

But all kidding a side, check out the other Torco/Evan Knoll threads that are fairly recent.

The NHRA media spokeperson I just talked to said "unfortunately I'm not able to comment on that." Typical NHRA.

He said they name events whatever they like and that was the name they chose. I then told Mr. NHRA Media Person that most races have title sponsors for the event and that Torco Race Fuels was the title sponsor until a couple days ago. I asked him again why the name was changed from the Torco Race Fuels NHRA Nationals to NHRA Virginia Nationals and again he siad he couldn't comment.

Gee....

The Virgin...ia is for Lovers Nationals....

I'll be there, even if TA/FC is the top flopper class.... let PSB and Gas Floppers run... and if the AA/BAD's and top alky floppers are it, so be it....

so, does anyone remember the movie from around '63 or so: "Is Paris Burning?"

The Torco bruhaha continues to fall like a house of cards. I read on another site that the party jet was also grounded.

Who is shocked that no payment was made for the Chicago race????;) I see a pattern developing here. I can only imagine what is happening in the IHRA since Torco sponsored the FC class. For those who think Torco will be back in 2009, don't hold your breath. It irritates the hell out of me that Torco's unprofessional/cluster f**k organization screwed many teams (pulling sponsorship a week before the season) and I feel really bad for those teams who invested hundreds of thousands of dollars for this year to only be stuck sitting at home trying to figure out how to pay for the investment and get back on track because of a BS agreement and an organization that lacks integrity. I can only hope those responsible will be held accountable for their actions in some manner. Ok, enough of my rant.....

Ok, Ok, we have already been down this road before, PLEASE, why can't we all just attempt to post some positive things on this board. Why not talk about more good racing stories, because if a newbie ever came on this site as a reference to the sport of Drag Racing I'm pretty sure they would be highly turned off. We are supposed to be the fans, sponsors, racers, tuners, officials all having an internet site to go to and bench race. If you want to bash someone, why not show up at there door or at the next race and give them the respect of answering back. Evan answered, leave it at that.

Oh and by the way I just won my fourth race this past weekend, and it was absolutely the highlight of my racing career, my 22 year old brother was tuning the car, my Dad was starting the car, I had a 13 year old doing the clutch, a 15 year old doing the right cylinder head, and my best buddy Steve mixin fuel. A new guy doing the left head. It was for sure a cinderella weekend. I will treasure this moment as long as I live. OH AND BY THE WAY, MY FAMILY AND MYSELF WOULD PROBABLY HAVE BEEN OUT OF THE SPORT OF DRAG RACING IF NOT FOR MR. KNOLL'S SUPPORT. So there is another positive post, rock on and try and be positive!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I feel certain some must have missed this post from another "bad news about Torco" thread from someone who "ACTUALLY WAS" involved in the inner-workings of this situation. I wonder why others who were are clearly so distant feel the need to spread hatred, disgust and even call for heads when the actual involved parties speak as Bobby has here?

Hey Bobby, if Torco was your company would you have that many contracts (hand shake and formal) in place with teams knowing the financial stability of your business? A company does not find out overnight they are screwed unless someone within the company is falsifying (not saying this is what happened) financial statements (and this shouldn't happen if you have a consulting firm auditing your statements). It is flat out unethical to not pay on your agreements. How do you feel about the NHRA not receiving payment for Chicago, is that OK? ? I just sat through a 2 day meeting about ethical conduct when preparing company financial statements/and other various documents and giving unbiased input into business investment decisions and this stuff is fresh in my head of what the right thing to do is.

bobby m, it wont do any good let them speculate. i know a few teams that were in on torco deals but i'll leave it at that . the guy just loved drag racing to much AND BOBBY LAGANA, u get ready scubasteve and the palmer gang is cfya. hopefully we wont need to order pizza again on the starting line . rock on

How about just asking honest questions? You seem to not be able to discern one from the other. We're not bringing the sleeze, it's being brought to us. I read Bobby Lagana's post as coming with fairy dust. The stink is being permeated by the silence. Hell, I'll bet you still think OJ is innocent.

ooo i almost forgot congrats on the win bobby L, nothing sweeter in racing than the winners circle no matter what level. big shout to your whole group , having your bro turning screws etc etc sweeeeet/priceless

Paul,

As a business owner, you owe it to your employees, creditors, investors and vendors to run a straight up, honest business with clean financial reports. This is more than a question of ethics, it will eventually be a question of legality that will ultimately tell the full story of what was going on behind the scenes.

Defending the business practices of Torco is a very slippery slope.

i was suprised to see Torco's name on the Chicago race. Someone could have called and told them not to call the race the Torco Nats, however that would be admitting there is an issue. In addition, i would presume that all of the NHRA marketing materials were in place. Just a thought.

Well it looks like Torco must not of paid up on there sponsorship of Chicago race. HMMMM who’s pocket is that going to come out of? NHRA? HMMM im betting not! Race teams? Doubt it! The fans? More then likely! Thanks! Torco did more bad for the sport than the ever did good!
