Could be. Looks like he's now into putting big logos on his car for free. Tell me I'm wrong. How much do you think the great jimmie johnson paid for the sponsorship earlier this year. Not good business in my book. Don't give yourself away for nothing. If you put something on your car for one company for free, how can you ask another company for big money for the same spot?

Fire away, I'm ready.

Could this show how little money big corporations throw out to drag racing and how racers gobble it up? I refer back to Virgil Hartmann's days of NHRA racing and that big Fram sign on the side didn't pay the race and weekend expenses. Does Cory Mac get more money from Fram? How many teams with big signage couldn't make the call without the secondary help?

Have to completely agree with you here Dave. I find it hard to believe he is going week in and week out getting his associates to saddle up about 100k / race. I think he just doesnt want to run a 'blank' car for whatever reason.

whatever's he's doing, he's doing it well.
seems to have companies lined up for one weekend gigs
parlaying them into late/final round appearances.

didn't mater to me who won fc yesterday - admire each team.

ya know what if companies can't or wont pay for full season deals, why not go with several smaller ones. Not only does it introuduce more companies to the drag scene but then he also has several variations of his car to sell on shirts, die cast and such. Regional companies may want to only sponsor a car while racing in their market. Who knows whats happening but however its being done Tped is doing it well

Careful what you guys post on here about racers and their sponsorships ... the tinfoil hat crowd will come out and tell you that they will never be able to get a sponsor again because of what is posted here.

A source from within the NHRA tells CompetitionPlus.com that the sanctioning body will be announcing two new sponsors to drag racing in the weeks to come. Reportedly there will be an announcement this week and another next. At a time when the economy is in the dumps, this will come as welcomed news.

Being that the Jimmie Johnson logo he had on his car was the Jimmie Johnson Foundation - A Charity - I'm sure it was for free to the foundation, but his regular sponsors were probably paying their regular rate even though they were on there smaller, for good PR.
