(8-19-2007) DENTON, TX – The husband and wife team of Thomas "Tom Slick" and Rebecca Myers have done what few have done before – they’ve won three Texas Outlaw Pro Modified Association (TOPMA) races in a row and four out of the last five.
TOPMA is considered to be one of the most competitive series in North America and with a win last night at North Star Dragway in Denton, Texas they have added to their points lead. Tom and Rebecca have accomplished this largely on their own with little trackside help other than an occasional helper.
Tom qualified in the third spot with a 4.22. In the first round he dodged a bullet when Clyde Scott left before the tree was activated while his own car experienced tire shake at the hit of the throttle.
In the second round Tom used a 4.08 to get around Bobby Booth. That 4.08 would stand as Low ET of the race.
In the final, Tom’s 4.10 was enough to take the win over Steve Wiley and move them into a four round lead over Frankie "Mad Man" Taylor in the TOPMA points standings.
Tom and Rebecca left Denton this morning and are currently headed to Norwalk, Ohio for the American Drag Racing League’s inaugural Chevy Drags. Tom is fifth in ADRL Pro Nitrous points.
Tom and Rebecca would like to thank their sponsors: David Spainhour/MIDCO Demolition Tools, Old South Pancake House and Family Restaurant, Nitrous Oxide Systems, Buck Racing Engines and ProModSource.com. The team is actively seeking additional marketing partners. Interested parties may call (817) 475-1621.
