NHRA Story » Tire Kingdom named title sponsor of NHRA Gatornationals

Makes me want PC Richard & Son to sponsor the Supernationals Even More especially with their 100th Anniversary.
Rob, if Gary Richards wanted to sponsor a National Event, he would already have done so. Gary gets mega-exposure as part of the biggest megalopolis in the US. You know living there that he is all over the NY radio and TV ... billboards are everywhere.

He is not a nationwide entity (and likely doesn't want to be) so what $$ benefit would exist for him outside of his current huge market. Besides, my guess is that he knows the expense of signing on with NHRA to sponsor a National event is likely more of a business expense rather than an investment that would impact his bottom line. EVERYBODY in the NY, NJ, and southern CT metropolitan area knows PC Richard and likely already shop there. Certainly many Division 1 racers are loyal patrons of his business thanks to all of the programs he has invested in there which directly support the racers including his own 3 race series.

Other areas of the country likely have thier own electronics stores similar to PC Richard and Sons plus the national chains like Best Buy, so what is there for him to gain? In the NYC metro area, they have little competition because they were in business in NYC before those chains existed and thier flawless 100 year reputation carries them. Thier existing business model has served that family VERY, VERY, VERY well ... trust me. In its local market, PC Richard is the King and is about as visible as a business can get.

And Tire Kingdom from what I see is only based in Florida, now Florida is a Big Area, but it's the same concept except PC Richard is not just based in 1 State but has stores in 3 states and is just as known in surrounding states that don't have a PC Richard & Son At all. They both are kinda on equal footing with employees and folks involved. I mean if Tire Kingdom can get Gainesville that from what I see NEVER seems to have a problem netting a sponsorship and can keep one for a good span of time (Motorcraft, Mac Tools, AC Delco) whereas RP the last couple years it's what's the "sponsor of the year" after 2006 (Procare RX in 2007, Lucas Oil in 2008, UA.Org in 2009, ??? 2010) why can't Gary step up and take a swing for it?
