Three Pro Mod spots available at Dallas race
DALLAS (Sept. 10) -- Organizers of the JEGS ProMod Challenge have announced a rare opportunity for three Pro Modified racers to compete at the upcoming 23rd annual O’Reilly Super Start Batteries NHRA Fall Nationals, Sept. 18-21 at the Texas Motorplex near Dallas. Interested drivers should e-mail their intentions to [email protected] as soon as possible to be considered for the coveted spots.

"We're looking for three racers to join us," series organizer Troy Coughlin said. "We've had a few of our regulars pull out for various reasons so we've got a few open slots. We'd love to see some fresh faces come out and race with us at one of the best drag strips in the country."

Racers committed to the event, the eighth of 10 on the 2008 JEGS ProMod Challenge, include, in alphabetical order, Joe Baker, Roger Burgess, Ray Commisso, Coughlin, Rick DiStefano, Josh Hernandez, Mike Knowles, Kirk Kuhns, Harold Laird, Taylor Lastor, Mike Moran Jay Payne, Brad Personett, Tony Pontieri, Scott Ray, Danny Rowe, Gaylen Smith, Rickie Smith, Tim Tindle, Ray Vettel, and Steve Wiley.

"You have the best of the best going for it every time we race," Coughlin said. "If a racer wants to see how they measure up, we invite them to apply for one of these spots and come to Texas. I promise they will have a great time."

Hernandez currently leads the JEGS ProMod Challenge points, followed closely by Pontieri, Baker, Rowe, and Kuhns.
