COLUMBUS, Ohio (July 29) - Don Deafenbaugh and Al Bergler have been named as the Grand Marshal and Honorary Starter, respectively for the second annual Jeg's NHRA Northern SPORTSnationals at National Trail Raceway.
Deafenbaugh has worked as an associate at Jeg's Automotive, Inc. for 37 years. His selection as the event's Grand Marshal continues a tradition established last year whereby the Delaware, Ohio mail order giant uses the event to honor their longest tenured associates.
Bergler is a veteran racer and fabricator whose many accomplishments include winning the first Ridler Award in 1964. The Ridler Award is considered the "Holy Grail" of hot rodding. The Ridler Award was named for the late Don Ridler, a member of the Michigan Sports Hall of Fame, and the former promoter of the Autorama car show.
Another Jeg's Associate, Jeff Corfios, will sing the United States national anthem during pre-race ceremonies at the second annual Jeg's NHRA Northern SPORTSnationals.
